Welcome to Cohen-Rosen House.

Rockville’s Premier Memory Care Community Delivers an Innovative and Award-Winning Approach for Empowering People Living with Dementia.

We combine a nationally recognized design with a family-style approach to help residents maintain a meaningful and enjoyable quality of life.

The first impression most visitors have when they tour our memory care community is that it doesn’t look or feel like a memory care community. That’s the point. Residents live in a warm and inviting atmosphere that feels like home instead of a clinical setting. Our award-winning interiors boast stunning communal areas, well-lit spaces, and roomy outdoor courtyards, enabling our residents to move around comfortably and engage with their surroundings.

Cohen-Rosen House provides a safe, serene and caring home for up to 18 individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease or other dementia-related disorders. Residents experience the benefits of a unique setting where private accommodations, creative programming and personal solutions organically shape their daily routines.

The studio homes at Cohen-Rosen House are spacious and well-appointed, steps away from beautifully designed living areas featuring cozy fireplaces and flat-screen televisions. They also boast charming open kitchens, private dining areas and access to our spacious patio.

Our professional team approach creates great days.

Each daily experience is designed to maintain important connections in life — family, faith and values, caregivers and neighbors, the natural environment, comfort and security. All of it contributes to the overall well-being of your loved one.

Our priority is to nurture and enhance the crucial relationships in the lives of our residents. This includes connections with loved ones, spiritual practices, caregivers, neighbors and the natural world — all of which are essential to overall health and well-being. We make it our mission to create a community where our members feel at ease and safe while also fostering happiness and comfort.

Our team understands the challenges of caring for a loved one living with Alzheimer’s Disease or memory loss. That’s why we take a universal worker approach, ensuring every team member is trained and skilled in providing compassionate care and assistance with daily tasks, such as dressing, grooming, toileting, housekeeping, recreation and dining. Our professional staff are Life Skills Assistants who strive to create a warm and welcoming home environment for all our residents. We are a specialized team here to support you and your family.

We take pride in offering:

  • On-staff, on-campus physicians who make home visits.
  • Registered/licensed nurses, 24 hours a day.
  • Certified medical aides.
  • Certified geriatric nursing assistants.
  • Activity and dementia care specialists.
  • Housekeeping.

Additionally, residents benefit from exceptional physical, occupational and speech therapy services at the top-ranked Warren R. Slavin Post-Acute Care Center at Hebrew Home of Greater Washington.

The importance of medical home visits.

Unique to Charles E. Smith Life Communities, we employ five full-time physicians on the campus with 24/7 coverage on the weekends. Our physicians come to the residents’ homes for routine visits as well as medically necessary situations. This means residents avoid unnecessary and stressful trips to doctor offices and emergency rooms.

Our amazing medical team is always around to check whether a resident has any special needs or may need hospitalization. This ensures that our residents feel safe and relaxed knowing that they have access to the best possible care.

Lifestyle Highlights at Cohen-Rosen House
  • Socialization is vital for anyone, and that is especially true for people with cognitive decline. We provide socializing settings that are natural and comfortable for each person’s personality.
  • Natural light and music alleviate and lessen symptoms of Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia. We focus on getting residents outdoors and moving with music.
  • While television viewing in moderation is appropriate, too much TV can create isolation, poor sleep, depression and anxiety. We do our best to create an engaging environment that draws people together, away from the television.
  • A full suite of services on campus including our top-ranked Post-Acute Care Center at the Hebrew Home of Greater Washington.
  • It is important that you and your family also feel comfortable visiting. Besides private rooms for residents, each household has a beautiful living area with a fireplace, flat-screen television, open kitchen, private dining area and large outdoor courtyard.
  • Residents are kept active and engaged with exercise classes, such as balance, stretching and strength training.
  • Physician services available.
